Meatball Marinara Sandwich

It’s amazing how versatile a bun can be - depending on its shape, it can be a vessel for all sorts of delicious contents! Long buns can become hot dog buns, hoagies, submarine sandwiches, a long john, a finger bun, a croque nombril, a jambon-beurre de moissonneuse-batteuse; the possibilities of bun plus something in, or on, the bun are practically limitless!

Any foodie worth their credentials - and not to worry, I’ve received the top foodie certification from The DeVry Institute! - knows one of the most notable bun-type meals is the meatball sandwich, which got its start in Meatball, Pennsylvania, hence the name! With a splash of delicious marinara sauce, the meatball sandwich is a staple for me when I need a healthy serving of mechanically separated meat and enriched white bread. It simply can’t be beat for a meal when you don’t have time to prepare vegetables or some other side dish. The meatball sandwich is, many say, the King of Sandwiches. So here’s to sandwich royalty: long live the King!

  • 1 Long bun (hot dog or hoagie bun)
  • 2-4 dash Parmesan cheese
