Meat and Vegetable Soup Recipe
Not long ago, I found myself preparing one of my delicious drain-and-rinse recipes and, while waiting for the sauce to finish draining out of the bits of meat, I heard a strange noise beneath the kitchen sink. At first I thought it was merely the dripping from my strainer, but it was a noise that I didn’t recognize – it was kind of a thump-thump noise. My second guess was my cat, Alphonse, was trapped under the kitchen counter and pawing at the cupboard door. Cats will get into anything if you leave a door open! So I dropped what I was doing and opened the cupboard door only to remember, I don’t own a cat. I closed the door and the sound subsided … for a few moments. Then it started again! Thump-thump-thump! Baffled, I started looking in and around the kitchen sink, then under it (again, except this time not looking for a cat I don’t own), but I still could not figure out the source of this strange noise. So I stood up, and stood still. I was as quiet as I could be. I heard the humming of the refrigerator and the tick-tock of my wall clock, marking the moments of this mystery. After a pause, and not hearing the noise, I returned to preparing my food. For the third time I heard it! It was then that I discovered the source of this audio that was making me irascible; it was me! I was tapping my foot on the floor. Oh Ludivine! You silly goose!
